WhatsApp’s New Privacy Policy accept It or Not in 2021

WhatsApp's New Privacy Policy

WhatsApp has been the most widely used messaging app globally and also in India for more than 6 to 7 years now. Whether it is communicating with your family member, keeping in touch with colleagues, or using the government’s official help desk for covid-related queries, all of it is happening on WhatsApp.

Now. Earlier this year on February 8, WhatsApp updated its Privacy policy, which got everyone worried about their data and WhatsApp says that if you do not accept this new privacy policy, your account will not be deleted. However, you will not be able to access your chat list or make any calls on WhatsApp, which is almost similar to not have an app on your phone.

WhatsApp was early supposed to release this new Privacy update on February 8, but because of huge criticism, it shifted that there is to May 15 and now the deadline is here and the big question is, what will happen after May 15 if you do not accept this new privacy policy update,

After reading WhatsApp’s Blog post I noticed, that you will get repetitive reminders whenever you will open the app. And if you still choose to not accept this privacy policy, then more or less the app will become useless for you. In the beginning, you will not be able to access your chat list or reply to any messages from the app.

You will only be able to make so call back or receive incoming video calls and reply to messages from the notification panel. But after a few weeks, you will stop receiving messages, calls, and event notifications from WhatsApp and those who already accepted the new WhatsApp Privacy Update, won’t notice any difference in their experience. But if you choose to still keep the app on your phone and not accept the Privacy Update, your account will not be deleted because of that but WhatsApp will perhaps delete your account because of no activity after 120 days.

Questions Regarding WhatsApp's New Privacy Update

I know there are some questions on everyone’s mind regarding this WhatsApp’s new privacy policy so let me just answered you-

  1. The 1st question that comes to your mind is WhatsApp rolling back this new privacy policy well the answer is no clarity, you’ll have to accept this new privacy policy if you want to keep using WhatsApp in the future.
  2. The 2nd question and this is a very important question can someone who has by mistake agreed to WhatsApp’s new privacy policy go ahead and change the decision and disagree with it. The answer is no. If you agreed the WhatsApp’s new privacy policy then you can’t change it.

Accept it or not

It’s clear that WhatsApp users only have two options right now and they are: –

The 1st option is to accept the new privacy policy and keep using WhatsApp

The 2nd option is don’t accept the new privacy policy and switch to a new and secure messaging app like signal or telegram.

I’ve been personally trying to switch over to the signal or telegram messenger app but the question comes to mind that most of my friends and family are still using WhatsApp. I think this is the time to switch to a different messaging app because trust me Facebook’s privacy issues are only going to worsted in the future.

This is important to share this article with your friends and family and ask them to switch to signal messenger and export your WhatsApp chats, messages, and groups from WhatsApp to signal or any app that you want to use just do it.
